Aimed at students and emerging artists, this lecture was presented for two different classes at the Alberta College of Art and Design. The talk featured discussion regarding the rarely talked about business of arts self-promotion and economic survival, and included question and answer sessions. Dempsey and Millan presented tried-and-true advice on how to improve chances of getting gigs, grants, and media attention, and covered the basics of grant-writing, support material, applications to galleries, press, and long-term financial planning for artists.
