MST presents the performance "Portage" by Terrance Houle and Trevor Freeman as part of the Brilliant City Celebration on September 1, 2005. This public intervention involved the portage of a 16 ft canoe through the crowded Calgary downtown during the centennial celebration. Dressing up in stereotypically "traditional" aboriginal and Métis garb Houle and Freeman traverse the rocky terrain of the centennial celebrations, to the sometimes- surprising reactions of passers by.
