M:ST 4 Festival Updates

M:ST is pleased to announce that the 4th M:ST Festival will be taking place from October 3rd-17th, 2008. The M:ST 4 Festival will include workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions, and the presentation of works by local, national, and international artists. Please note that we have already selected the artists for the M:ST 4 Festival, and are not currently seeking additional submissions.

M:ST will also be co-hosting the Performance Creation Canada conference from October 9th – 12th along with Springboard Dance’s Fluid Movement Festival. Please visit http://www.performancecreationcanada.ca/ for more information about the conference.


Employment Opportunity: M:ST Programming Assistant

The Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Festival Society (MST) is currently seeking a Programming Assistant. This is a contract position paying $14.00 an hour working 30 hours a week, to prepare for the upcoming M:ST 4 Festival. The position will run from July 2 – August 27, 2008, and pending funding this position will be extended through to October 31, 2008.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for an emerging artist or arts administrator to build knowledge of the local, national and international art communities, while developing administrative, programming, and organizational experience.

Job Description
Working closely with the Festival Director and the M:ST Board of Directors, the Programming Assistant will be involved with the administrative and programming aspects in preparation for the M:ST 4 Festival. The duties and tasks of the Programming Assistant will include:

-Office and clerical duties
-Arranging promotional material
-Assisting with grant writing and research
-Liaising with artists and member organizations
-Public relations and media development
-Researching and organizing technical support for the M:ST 4 Festival

The ideal candidate will have a background and interest in visual and media arts, excellent writing skills, strong organizational and communication skills, as well as knowledge of contemporary performative practices. Experience with web based design, knowledge of the local arts community, and experience in event planning are assets.

*Please note that this position is partially funded through the Summer Temporary Employment Program and as such candidates must be 30 years of age or younger to qualify.
