This walking-based performance uses radio receivers and a laptop to transmit and remix sounds from the urban environment, passed from the artist to the audience members as they follow a trail of audio clues through the city streets. This circuitous walk is a contemplation of what remains after the city’s sounds have washed through our ears; it alludes to what is left of us after the street noise has drowned out our own sounds. Duncan Speakman works with the poetics of the everyday in both live and mediated spaces. Through emergent technologies, his work examines how we use sound to locate ourselves in personal and political environments. He has exhibited internationally and is a senior lecturer in Media Practice at University of West of England.
